On Friday 25th September 2020, I was off school to keep everyone safe, because I had a cold with a temperature. Normally, because I didn't feel that bad, I would have gone to school, and I would definitely be going back to school Monday because by Saturday I felt fine, but because of the new COVID regulations I stayed at home and isolated all weekend. On Sunday, I was tested for COVID. We drove to the test centre in Newbury and it was really well organised. As we arrived, we drove through cones that were arranged so that people didn’t speed and made the road look like a racing track. We were greeted by lady with a flip pad. There were quite a few pages explaining what we were to do. I wanted to take a picture for my friends, but the sign said I wasn’t allowed to. We wore masks and we were told to keep our windows shut, except for opening it two inches to let them slip the test through. Then, we were met by a guy with another flip pad with a phone number for us to call, and when we dialled the number, it was the same guy who picked up. He explained how to do the test. I had to put a swab into my mouth and touch my tonsils and then put it into both of my nostrils. It was unpleasant and it tickled me. I’m waiting for the results, which should come on Tuesday. I really want to go back to school, but it’s important to keep everybody around you safe, so I’m waiting to see if I’m positive or negative. If you find that you have a temperature, even if you only think you have a cold, I hope you decide to get tested as well, to keep us all safe.
